We are a country church with a heart for families, missions, and youth. We are committed to practical Bible preaching and teaching and are traditional (but alive and authentic) in our church services and music. Learn more about what we believe.
King’s Valley is not a large church, but we do have large hearts and a large vision for growing in Christ and reaching the area for God.
King’s Valley Chapel is an independent Baptist church that was planted in 1976 by Kingfield native Pastor Ronald J. Meldrum, who had pastored Baptist churches in Missouri and Maine since 1959. The church first met in the community room over the Kingfield fire station, later acquiring property and, over time, building the facility we have today. Pastor Meldrum visited profusely in the area over the years, winning many to Christ and distributing a King James Bible to every home in Kingfield. Even today, hundreds in the surrounding communities remember him from his visits to their homes and the multitude of weddings and funerals he performed during his 25-year pastorate.
In 2001, Pastor Meldrum felt compelled to retire due to health issues. On July 13, 2001, Meldrum’s son, Ronald L. Meldrum, was called to pastor the church. He visited door-to-door through Kingfield and through much of Salem, Strong, and Phillips; started annual fall preaching meetings; and began youth outreach and county fair outreach ministries. God blessed with many souls, and with many baptisms in the Carrabassett and West Branch rivers. He pastored until November 1, 2013, when God called his family to plant more churches in rural Maine communities.
